Donate one item to a local homeless shelter
Giving money directly to homeless people often isn't the best way to make a difference. However, homeless shelters are always in need of food, clothing, toys and products for homeless women with children.
This is a one-time pledge that can be fulfilled any time.

We have many well maintained coats and jackets that we would like to donate to the homeless so they can stay warm in the winter time. Please let me know how I can get them to you. We live in the Cypress, Tx area.
Thank you.

I believe we can all make a difference in the world. Although some actions may seem small every single one counts to make the world a better place.

As a domestic violence survivor my children and I experienced homlessness to a careless driver who ran the red light and hit us head on. We lost everything and had to qualify for a shelter, I thought being homeless was the qualification. Needless to say I promised God that if we ever got back on our feet again we will always help those in need. We donate food, money, and prayers and if we pass a homeless person we help them in whatever way we can. I will continue to do this until I die.

I go to Costco and buy a bunch of toothbrushes and toothpaste and bring them by the homeless shelter too.
The people can always use personal care items like that, hairspray for the women, toys for the kids, razors for the men. Small things like that make a differance.

Giving money to homeless people is not the worst way to make a difference either. I imagine the money would not be squandered and would be more appreciated than if you gave the money to almost anyone else. This is a big difference.

The K4 (Krazy Kool Knitters & Krocheters) charity knitting group at the Lake Orion, MI, Senior Center donated 70+ hat & scarf sets in 2006 & 101 in 2007 to the Homeless Veterans Shelter in Detroit. We're gearing up now to hopefully beat those numbers in 2009.

Hiya All,
Happy holidays. Thanx for the efforts, friends, your work here is impressive. An injustice to any is an injustice to all, "we, the people...", can't allow it :) For e.g., the fundamental thing taught by Jesus was destruction and murder are of no profit or pleasure, something almost all supposed Christians are anti-thetically opposed to, as is your gov't; and a gleaning from Native American teaching, et al, all life are needed threads in the fabric of life. Put your shadow behind you, give the gift that keeps on giving, a hand to a sister and/or brother :) The more art is given, the more it is, as is life. Very cool site, I like it, even though I've only been on it for a couple days, and, unlike many others that are similar, this one's 'buzz' seems to be keeping it growing; which is necessary. A twig of poetree :)

Hustled and bustled,
Still, hands only put to heart,
Beings, only art.

I look forward to hearing from you. Goodbye. For those interested :) "of or pertaining to the morning, day: relating to or happening in the morning or in the early part of the day (formal), (Mid-16th century, from late Latin matutinalis, from Matuta, goddess of the dawn.)".
Matutinally Yours,

As a new mother myself, I know how scary it is not only to have a child in this world that you so desperately want to protect and care for, but to be homeless atop the scary, sometimes helpless feeling of trying to protect your child...? I cannot imagine. Though I may not be able to get through the horrible snowstorms we're having here in NW PA before Christmas, I will be sure to donate toys for children, clothes my son no longer wears, and some new articles, as well. One thing no mother should ever need to worry about is how she will clothe and feed her child. This world is scary enough without being afraid of providing basic necessities for your children.
